Urgent Care, Emergency Room and Doctor's Office...

What do these three things have in common?

We have been to all three of these places this week! After Keith's trip to Urgent Care on Sunday, we revisited it on Monday evening with Kaitlyn. She was having some severe stomach pains. They would come and go but it certainly seemed serious. We waited for over an hour to find out that it was most likely just gas. Oh great! $40 for a diagnosis of GAS?! She was up almost every hour on the hour Monday night just screaming in pain for about 3-5 minutes and then she'd fall back asleep. When the pain was still there in the morning, I called her pediatrician and was instructed to go straight to the ER. So, we did. After about 3 hours and a round of x-rays, she was diagnosed with the stomach flu (except she was not vomitting nor did she have diarrhea). She didn't have a fever either. Thankfully she slept much better on Tuesday night and she has been pain free since Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, Kyle started throwing up about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday! He just had a few rounds and was finished with it and feeling better by about noon. So, I don't know if it was related to Kaitlyn's illness or if it was just something he ate.

Wednesday was a Doctor free day.

However, yesterday morning I was walking from the kitchen into the living room and jammed my left foot into the gate that we have separating the two rooms. Now, I have jammed my toe many, many times but I knew this one was different. I couldn't put any weight on my foot and my pinky toe was sticking straight out to the side. Thankfully Keith was still home when this happened and he ended up taking me to my Doctor (whose office just happens to be at the hospital). After about 3 hours, I was told that my toe was broken in two places but there really wasn't anything they could do for it. The doctor prescribed a narcotic and told me to take the week off to which Keith responded, "how many of those pills are for me?" Ha! Take the week off, now that's a joke! A big thanks to my Aunt Lori who came out and stayed with the kids so Keith could take me to the Doctor. I am currently wearing a giant boot on my leg (thanks to my Mom who had one from when she broke her foot) and taking my narcotic as prescribed. I can not believe how badly a broken little toe hurts. The pain is throbbing and shoots up my entire leg. Keith also insisted on purchasing a cane for me at Walgreens. I think he finds it amusing to see me hobble around on a cane! He also insisted on taking the camera with us to the Doctor's office so I am posting some pictures of my ordeal. Have fun laughing at me! :)
