Kaitlyn's First Time Around the Roller Rink

Kaitlyn's First Time on Roller Skates

Roller Skate Night for Kaitlyn's School

Last night was skating night for Kaitlyn's school. Daddy took Kaitlyn for a special Daddy/Daughter night. They even went out for Ice Cream after skating. It was Kaitlyn's first time roller skating but she had a great time and asked if we could go again today. :)

Funny Friday #50 - These Boys Have No Fear!!

Kyle and Ian loved being thrown up in the air in the swimming pool at Kaitlyn's Birthday Party last Sunday. In this picture, Uncle Kurt is throwing Ian and Uncle Kraig is throwing Kyle. They did this over and over. These 3 year old boys have absolutely no fear!! I can only imagine what these cousins will be like when they are 13!!

Kaitlyn's Palm Tree cake (Mommy didn't make it this year due to her toe injury - Nana and her friend Jackie took care of the cake for Mommy - THANK YOU!!)

We had a wonderful birthday party for Kaitlyn on Sunday. It was a well attended party with 26 adults and 18 children. Everyone had fun swimming and eating. Kaitlyn received many nice presents. She told me on the way home, "Mommy, that was the best party that anyone could ever have." I think she had fun! :)

Urgent Care, Emergency Room and Doctor's Office...

What do these three things have in common?

We have been to all three of these places this week! After Keith's trip to Urgent Care on Sunday, we revisited it on Monday evening with Kaitlyn. She was having some severe stomach pains. They would come and go but it certainly seemed serious. We waited for over an hour to find out that it was most likely just gas. Oh great! $40 for a diagnosis of GAS?! She was up almost every hour on the hour Monday night just screaming in pain for about 3-5 minutes and then she'd fall back asleep. When the pain was still there in the morning, I called her pediatrician and was instructed to go straight to the ER. So, we did. After about 3 hours and a round of x-rays, she was diagnosed with the stomach flu (except she was not vomitting nor did she have diarrhea). She didn't have a fever either. Thankfully she slept much better on Tuesday night and she has been pain free since Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, Kyle started throwing up about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday! He just had a few rounds and was finished with it and feeling better by about noon. So, I don't know if it was related to Kaitlyn's illness or if it was just something he ate.

Wednesday was a Doctor free day.

However, yesterday morning I was walking from the kitchen into the living room and jammed my left foot into the gate that we have separating the two rooms. Now, I have jammed my toe many, many times but I knew this one was different. I couldn't put any weight on my foot and my pinky toe was sticking straight out to the side. Thankfully Keith was still home when this happened and he ended up taking me to my Doctor (whose office just happens to be at the hospital). After about 3 hours, I was told that my toe was broken in two places but there really wasn't anything they could do for it. The doctor prescribed a narcotic and told me to take the week off to which Keith responded, "how many of those pills are for me?" Ha! Take the week off, now that's a joke! A big thanks to my Aunt Lori who came out and stayed with the kids so Keith could take me to the Doctor. I am currently wearing a giant boot on my leg (thanks to my Mom who had one from when she broke her foot) and taking my narcotic as prescribed. I can not believe how badly a broken little toe hurts. The pain is throbbing and shoots up my entire leg. Keith also insisted on purchasing a cane for me at Walgreens. I think he finds it amusing to see me hobble around on a cane! He also insisted on taking the camera with us to the Doctor's office so I am posting some pictures of my ordeal. Have fun laughing at me! :)

Funny Friday #49 - Girls Slumber Party

Kaitlyn had her first "slumber party." Her friend, Emma, stayed with us a couple weeks ago. The girls had so much fun together. It's hard to believe but about 3 minutes after this picture was taken, they were both sound asleep.

Kaitlyn's First Day of Kindergarten

What a big day for our little Kindergartener yesterday! She had a great first day. When her bus came to pick her up, she just marched right up the steps as big as you please. I was doing just fine until I looked over at Nana. Nana had tears streaming down her face so I teared up a little bit too. When Kaitlyn got home from school, I asked her what her favorite part of the day was and she said, "Riding the bus!"

ANOTHER Trip to Urgent Care

I tell you, when it rains, it pours...Keith ended up at Urgent Care this morning after a freak accident. We spent the night over in Illinois last night after attending a wedding. We were getting ready to check out. Keith was throwing away some trash, missed the trash can, bent down to pick it up and as he raised up he sliced open his head on the door where a piece of metal was sticking out. Kaitlyn's response when she was told about Daddy's accident was, "Oh man!" - as in here we go again. Both of the males in our family currently have glue on their heads. I told the girls to be extra careful!! No more trips to Urgent Care, please.

A Trip to Urgent Care

Last Friday evening we took a trip to Urgent Care. Kyle was running and tripped and hit his head on the edge of the dresser. He was wearing his shoes on the wrong feet and we think that contributed to the fall. There was a lot of blood so we took the quick drive to Urgent Care. The doctor recommended gluing it versus stitching it. Kyle was very brave until the glue started to sting.
These pictures were taken today - one week post accident. It seems to be healing well. We are just praying for minimal scarring.

Funny Friday #48 - Potty Training?

Kaedyn wants to sit on the potty all the time. She watches her sister and wants to do just what she does. She has gone several times but most of the time it's just a false alarm. I am looking forward to the day that I no longer have a child in diapers! Unfortunately I probably have at least another year left though. :)

Kindergarten Orientation Day

Today was a big day for our almost Kindergartener. We got to go to school and meet her teacher and see her classroom. Kaitlyn was very excited all the way there and then she turned very shy once we got there. Her teacher is very nice. They were supposed to ride the school bus home for a practice run but the School Superintendent cancelled that part of the orientation because it was too hot. So, she will not have a practice run on the bus but will ride it for real on the first day of school, next Monday. Mommy already signed up to be a classroom volunteer and to be the Head Room Mother for the Winter Party. Let the fun begin! :) A big thanks to Net for coming over to stay with Kyle and Kaedyn so Mommy could concentrate on Kaitlyn today.

Funny Friday #47 - My Reading Machine

Now that Kaitlyn can read, she wants to try reading everything! The other day she said, "I think I'll read the newspaper." She sat at the kitchen table and started reading this article about Square Dancing. Later she told me, "Mommy, I was reading an article about how square dancing is really good exercise. Maybe you should try it."

Funny Friday #46 - Maytag Repair Baby

Ok, I couldn't resist posting this today. I know she'll want to kill me when she's 16 but right now she's sitting on my lap, looking at the picture saying, "Funny diaper! Funny diaper!"
